The SRLA Walk-a-thon is THIS FRIDAY!

Dear Parents,

The SRLA Walk-a-thon is THIS FRIDAY! Students are excited to walk, hop, skip and dance and are very proud of their fundraising efforts! For those keeping track, 1^st grade and 3^rd grade are currently neck and neck with 6^th grade close behind (and 5^th and 4^th rounding out the top 5). Want to help keep our walkers hydrated???

Donate Water for Friday's event.

Details for Friday:

· The front half of the PARKING LOT WILL BE CLOSED at 7 AM to allow for set-up. Morning drop-off will occur in the back half of the lot. If you volunteered to donate water, you can drop it off when you drop off your child.

· Students are to wear their gym uniforms to school.

· Students will be given their Walk-a-Thon t-shirts (created by Pre-K and 3^rd Grade mom, Mary Uzzolino) during homeroom.

· Water will be provided during the Walk-a-thon

· The schedule is

· 10-10:45 AM (Pre-K-4^th grades),

· 11-11:45 AM (Middle School)

Friday's weather forecast looks to be partly sunny and CHILLY so dress your children accordingly and BUNDLE UP! Spectators and Cheerleaders are welcome to cheer on our walkers!

Dangerous Drop-Off Practice Must Stop

Dear SRLA Families,

A concerned parent sent me this earlier today.

"Today at drop-off, I noticed that some drivers continue to drive around stopped cars as children are departing the car, and I wanted to bring it to your attention. This has happened to us multiple times, with a vehicle squeezing between the side of my car and the walkway or the median while my children are getting out. It is dangerous."

As a reminder, not a single car should pass a car on the left as they are unloading children in the morning.

Please just take the extra minute to ensure that all of our children are safe and sound on school grounds.

I also ask for your cooperation in not parking in the Weichert Realtor parking lot at anytime.

The manager complained that his employees and clients many times cannot get a parking space and they see people crossing over to the school.

Students must cross with the crossing guard who is on duty at 7 am and leaves at the end of the day.

Halloween Costume Drive

SRLA has partnered with Jersey Cares to collect NEW or GENTLY USED

Halloween costumes to be distributed to children in shelters and our neighboring low-income communities to ensure all children have a Happy Halloween!

Please see the below flyer for information! A collection bin will be placed in the foyer until next Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

We will be collecting NEW or GENTLY USED costumes

for youths between the ages of 0-14.

(Please refrain from donating stained or torn costume items).

Items ACCEPTED for the Halloween Costume Drive Include:

· New or gently used costumes (ages 0-14)

· Halloween masks

· Costume accessories (wands, wings, capes, etc.)

· Unused Halloween face make-up

· Candy pails or treat bags

THE COLLECTION BIN IS LOCATED IN THE FOYER.

Walgreens is offering a free flu clinic on Thursday October 13th from 11:30 am -1 pm in the library.

Walkathon Friday, October 21

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are happy to announce that the SRLA Walk-a-thon will take place in the church parking lot on Friday, October 21 between 10am-12pm. All students participate in this annual event that generates school spirit while raising funds at the same time!

Schedule:

PreK- 4th Grade will walk from 10-10:45am

5th-8th Grade will walk from 11am-11:45am

Each student has a minimum fundraising goal of $100. Please register, get involved and encourage your child to reach out to friends and family on behalf of their school. Prizes will be awarded for the top earning class and individuals.

We will once again be using Pledgestar as our online fundraising platform, which makes it much easier for you to request pledges from your family and friends, to make secure credit card donations online.

Please register now to help SRLA raise as much as we can to help cover costs of School Assemblies, Facilities Improvements, Community Outreach, Class Parties, Faculty Recognition, etc.

Easy to Follow Instructions:

Fall Food Truck Festival - Tickets On Sale Now

Fall Food Truck Festival Tickets on Sale Now!

Join us for the SRLA Annual Fall Food Truck Festival Friday, October 14th from 7-10PM! You may purchase your tickets online now -- the ticket price of $65/per person includes a souvenir cup! You may also pre-order an SRLA commemorative pint glass and/or wine glass — while supplies last!

On October 14th, the SRLA parking lot will transform into a fun, fall festival. Grab some tasty eats from our fabulous food trucks, toast the new school year while listening to great LIVE MUSIC, and top it off with a sweet treat from our dessert truck.

Beer and wine are available but feel free to bring your beverage of choice. Also, don’t forget to enter the annual cornhole tournament! (Bring cash to play cornhole and 50/50!)

Teachers! Your admittance to the event is complimentary! Please see the ticket link to purchase tickets for any guests!
