GREEN ENVELOPE
Update for the SRLA Community

Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

The student in Ms. Timmerman's eighth grade cohort who was diagnosed with COVID-19 has been cleared! As part of our public health investigation, we were able to close the case with a letter from the student’s physician stating that they are COVID-free. All students and Ms. Timmerman are cleared for reentry on Tuesday, Oct. 13th!

Moving forward, always remember that your child should stay home and not go to school, activities, childcare, or any activities around other people if they are not feeling well.
If your child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19:
• Have your child tested.
• Continue to keep your child home from school and avoid other activities around other people.
• Notify the school. Please feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. 24/7.
• Seek medical care and testing for COVID-19, calling your doctor before you show up.

Public Health recommends you have your child tested for COVID-19 should you discover later that someone they came in contact with earlier received a positive test result.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any and all questions you may have, or if you find that you or your child may have been put at risk.

Sincerely,

Principal Underwood

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Greetings from SRLA Athletics
Dear SRLA Families,

As the Athletic Director I would like to take this moment to give you an overview of the St. Rose of Lima Sports program in a normal school year.

We traditionally offer the following sports:
- Fall Cross Country (K-8)
- Winter Basketball (3-8)
- Spring Track (3-8)

As we all know the '20 -21 school year has been challenging to say the least with constant issues and questions around school reopening and virtual/hybrid learning. We were notified by the Diocese that there would be no Fall Sports during a meeting in late August based on the current conditions at that time. At this time, we are currently awaiting guidance around the Winter Sports season. Right now, we are probably looking at January at best guess but as soon as we hear anything we will update our families.

In the meantime, we will be working on a few creative ways to generate energy around sports, and possibly hold a few virtual contests that can generate school spirit and get our competitive energy flowing.

Coaches:
All of our coaches are parents and members of our school community. We are always looking for more coaches and assistance with our Sports Programs. We will have a survey coming in the next Green Envelope to see if we have any parents interested in being involved with our sports through coaching or parent support.

In the meantime, feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have around St. Rose Sports. I can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and 973-508-7286

Farmers Market Coming to SRLA Oct. 16
The SRLA HSA is pleased to present the 5th Annual SRLA Farmers Market, Friday, October 16th as part of our Cultural Arts Program. At the Farmers Market, the students will have the opportunity to walk the market and see the seasonal fruits and vegetables, provided by Alstede Farms. They will be encouraged to make healthy food choices, and each student will receive a fruit and/or vegetable to bring home in their very own reusable tote bag!

This year’s Farmers Market will take place outside in the parking lot. Please remember that we practice social distancing, mandatory wearing of face coverings and frequent use of hand sanitizing measures. The cohorts will visit the Farmers Market one group at a time, which will allow them to adhere to our strict safety guidelines.

Parents of virtual learners who would like to make arrangements to pick up their student’s bag should call the school. Items are perishable and must be picked up on Friday.
