This week, PreK-3 students got a visit from a class dad--Mickey's dad!--who also happens to be a bonafide firefighter! The students learned all about fire safety. The class made a card for Mickey's dad to bring back to the fire station to share their gratitude to all the firefighters for their dedicated service. The kids really enjoyed the visit, and loved donning their own firefighter helmets!
Fantastic Fall Food Truck Festival!
Thanks to all who came out and supported the 5th Annual SRLA Food Truck Festival Friday night! It was the best one yet. A fun night with delicious food, lots of laughs with new and old friends, and a rousing corn hole competition. Everyone loved the live music by the fabulous Mike & Mike duo, and we were thankful for all the ways we responsibly celebrated so we could safely host this favorite event. Your generosity, support (virtual and in-person), and enthusiasm helped make this first fundraiser a success!
The Spirit of Giving
Dear SRLA Community,
A wonderful tradition at St. Rose of Lima Academy has been our Christmas Gift Giving Program that we have run for many years! This year is more important than ever because there are so many additional families in need because of Covid. Through this program we make sure that there is at least one present under the tree for the children of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newark and the seniors and families of St. Joseph’s Social Service Center in Elizabeth. Please consider if you can help these children, families and seniors during the Christmas holidays. There are two ways to participate in the program this year:
(1) Buy gifts for children.
~ If you would like to buy a gift, check off the appropriate box on the signup genius and indicate how many gifts you would like to buy. You will be provided with the name, age, and gender of a recipient in mid-November. Please wrap the gifts and bring them to school by Monday, December 7th. Gifts can be dropped off between November 30th through December 7th (Please budget $35 per gift). Drop off details will be provided.
(2) Make a monetary donation via the Christmas Giving webpage.
~Because of Covid, St. Joseph’s in Elizabeth is not collecting physical gifts this year for their families and seniors. We will be collecting money in $25 increments to purchase gift cards for the families and seniors at St. Joseph's. Please check off the appropriate box on the Signup Genius AND pay online via the donation webpage as soon as possible. The Social Outreach Committee will buy the gift cards on your behalf. Click HERE to make donations.
*Shoppers – As of right now we do not think we will need shoppers to volunteer this year. We will alert the school community if this changes.
Thank you in advance for all of your support for this worthy project! We encourage all families to involve their children in the shopping and wrapping of these gifts. This program is a wonderful way to teach children the importance of helping others!
A Note About HSA Dues
Hello Parents ~
Each year, the H.S.A. collects dues from each family to support various school activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, class parties, cultural arts programs, and Catholic Schools Week activities. H.S.A. dues also allow the H.S.A. to show our appreciation to our teachers with, among other things, a holiday luncheon and end of year gifts.
Parents do not need to take any action to pay these dues. Rather, H.S.A. dues have been added to each family’s SMART account and your dues charge will appear in the billing details of your November payment.
H.S.A. Dues for the 2020-21 school year are:
$75 for 1 child enrolled;
$100 for 2 children enrolled; and
$125 for 3+ children enrolled.
Thank you for your generosity and cooperation!
