Dear St. Rose Families,
Easter is traditionally the time in the Christian calendar that celebrates Jesus’ victory over death and is usually a time that we look to with optimism for the spring months ahead. Remain positive!
Last year at this time we could never have imagined that our new normal would include a year-long journey which included in-seat and virtual-learning for our students and distancing ourselves from friends and family. It has been an incredibly difficult school year with all of the adjustments we have had to make. We, as a school community, appreciate all that you have done to support your child whether in-seat or at home. We are here for you and we encourage everyone to support one another through these trying times.
Please know that I am on daily calls with instructional experts and administrative leaders from multiple private, public and independent schools from various districts in the area on a daily basis. We share ideas, plans, and interpretation of the latest Health Department broadcasts. They may or may not match up exactly with the latest CDC broadcasts. Please understand that the Health Department rules and regulations set our protocols day-by-day.
Please remember, as per an Archdiocesan mandate, all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Newark must be in-seat the week after Easter break. If you do plan to travel and cannot follow the latest guidelines below, please keep your child at home for the recommended number of days. This includes parent travel for work as there may be a chance that you could bring something home to your family.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Before you travel, it is recommended that you get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before you travel.
· Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public
· Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet from anyone who did not travel with you.
· Get tested 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, stay home and sell-quarantine for a full 10 days after travel.
· Please bring or email your negative Covid test result before reentering our school.
As Principal, I miss not having everyone back in seat but having the highly successful Book Fair here last week brought such happiness and joy to my heart!
Finally, I cannot thank Mrs. Corr, Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Rodriguez and their incredible team of volunteers that transformed our gym into a fantasy world of books. Also, thank you to Tara Roscioli and the mixology maidens for a wonderful social event! I am filled with immense pride observing how we have all (parents and faculty) worked so hard to support each other in regards to what is best for our students. I have nothing but admiration for ALL of our students and how they have reacted to our new normal.
I wish you and all of your family and friends a safe Easter.
