1/14 Raven Rundown

January 14, 2022

Principal's Update

Next week, January 18 – 21, students will be in school for full days with lunch in their classrooms. Lunch service will be available, but there will be no aftercare next week. Aftercare will return on Monday, January 24.

At school:

  • We continue to clean and disinfect the entire St. Rose of Lima campus as per CDC guidance.
  • Masks are required to be worn in school, and the use of KF94 and N95 masks is highly recommended. Masks are readily available for all students, teachers, and staff at the front desk.
  • Desk barriers will remain in place.
  • Please submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination for any student who has been vaccinated to Nurse Zuckerman (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
  • If you traveled outside of NY, NJ, CT, DE or PA, you must complete a COVID questionnaire upon your return. Your child will be sent home if it is brought to our attention that you have traveled.

To date, four middle school students have tested positive over the last three weeks. This information was relayed to our nurse and local Board of Health, as is required and always complied with by SRLA. The recommendation is for only the student and their immediate family to quarantine from school. Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the name of the individuals with COVID-19.

If as a parent you feel that you would like to have your child tested, please do so!

How can parents and guardians help prevent COVID-19 from spreading?

  • If your child is sick, keep them home.
  • Make sure members of your household wash their hands often using soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Make sure every member of your household covers their coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their elbow, and then washes their hands afterwards.
  • Wear a mask when you cannot stay 3 feet apart from other people.

We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Many thanks,
Principal Underwood

The Book Fair Is Coming to SRLA
The Scholastic Book Fair will run from January 24 – 27 in the SRLA gym.

Every year, students look forward to browsing the fair and its wide selection of favorite authors, popular series and much more. All purchases benefit the school, so please stop by and support us!

E-wallet will be returning this year to make book shopping even more convenient for your family! It's a great alternative to sending kids to school with cash. Look for fliers to come home next week in your child's backpack with all the details.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to volunteer, so watch out for a sign-up soon. Volunteers will be needed:
  • January 23: Book Fair Setup
  • January 24 – 26: Students visit Book Fair/ Create wish lists/ Fulfill orders
  • January 27: Book Fair Breakdown

Reminder: All volunteers need to have current Protecting God's Children certification and mandatory COVID vaccination/testing requirements.

Designer Bag BINGO!

Donations will be accepted until Friday, January 21, and stay tuned for information about how to purchase tickets!

Please note there will be a limited number of tickets available.

Raven Nation Volunteers Needed
We are asking for assistance from SRLA basketball families to make this season a success!

Please lend a hand at our home games by serving as scorekeeper, running the clock/scoreboard, or assisting with snack bar sales. There are many time slots available to volunteer at your child's game.

There are also a few slots left to donate items for the concession. Donated items may be dropped off with Danny or brought to home games and practices this week/weekend.

Thanks for your support. Go Ravens!
