Catholic Schools Week 2024

The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week United in Faith and Community

St. (Pope) John Paul II said, “Catholic education is above all a question of communicating Christ, of helping to form Christ in the lives of others.”

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is an annual initiative led by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) to celebrate the excellence and impact of Catholic schools. Each year, Catholic schools observe the celebration through a variety of activities, emphasizing the importance of Catholic education.

These are just a few of the things planned for 1/28-2/2/24.

Sunday, January 28th: Celebrating our Parish:

 Mass at 11:30 am. Students are asked to wear their full uniforms and sit with their parents.

Teachers will be present and will sit together at reserved pews.

An Open House will be held in the Media Center from 12:30-1:30 pm. HSA to host the event.

Book Fair will be open for all in our Gymnasium.

Monday, January 29th : Celebrating our Community

A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of Community. Our students take part in collecting spring and summer clothing for Bridges Outreach in Summit A detailed list of items needed will follow shortly.

Dress: Students are invited to wear Country (Hats and boots are welcome) vs Country Club attire.

Tuesday, January 30th

Celebrating our own SRLA Students!

We are all created in God’s image and God calls each of us. We are asked to live as Jesus does. Students will be asked to donate items for the Eleventh Hour Animal Resue League

(Wish list will distributed separately)

To recognize our students’ and their amazing accomplishments…we honor you by declaring a Homework Free Week (Thank you A.)

Wednesday, January 31st: Celebrating our Nation

On National Appreciation for Catholic School students, families, educators and all Catholic school supporters we thank you one and all. Students are asked to provide a pantry item for the St. Joseph Food Pantry.

Dress: Students are asked to wear their favorite vacation place apparel

Eighth grade to be dressed in their full, winter uniform for their pinning ceremony following the 9:00 am Mass. Brunch will follow immediately after to be held in Ryan Hall. Parents and siblings are invited to attend. A separate invitation to follow shortly.

Thursday February 1st+ Celebrating Vocations

By focusing on faith, knowledge and service, Catholic schools prepare children to use their God-given talents to the fullest later in life.

Please bring a $1.00 donation for: The Dominican Sisters Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Friday, February 2nd:

 SRLA will embrace the Multicultural Face of God Through The Patron Saints of The Catholic Church

Culminating school-wide presentations in the gym: 10:00 am-11:00 am

The classes will present a very special presentation of Patron Saints. Members of the Communion of Saints who we look to for special intercession.

11:00-12:00 noon: International celebration of Food and Treats from the countries highlighted in our Multicultural program.
