We are very excited to announce to you that the registration is open for the St. Rose 2024-2025 Basketball Season

Team Overview

St. Rose will be offering teams based on player sign ups for Grades 3-8 for both Boys & Girls

Registration - Must be completed no later than 10/23/24

-   Please click here - St. Rose Basketball Registration link to complete the online registration and submit required forms. All families must create a new account. 

-   Registration fees: $175 per child. Please click here to pay your registration fee (Payment is due by October 25, 2024 )

-   Please make sure you have the appropriate St. Rose Health & Physical Forms on file with the nurse

Uniforms

 

  • The Uniform storeis open. All new players need to order a complete uniform. (Uniform store closes October 25, 2024)
  • Full Uniform Includes: Jersey, Shorts, Shooting Shirt, T-shirt
  • If your child has played and still has their uniform, please check to see if their uniform still fits so they can use it for this season. Replacement pieces can be ordered in the store

Protecting God’s Children Program Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30 PM

To: Parents who chaperone field trips, help out with school activities are involved in coaching or school boards.

 

All staff and volunteers who have regular contact with minors must complete this important training.

 

To enroll please go to the Archdiocese of Newark webpage. http://rcan.org

Scroll down the webpage to the bottom on the left side you will see Safe Environment Tab. Click on that tab and then look for the Protecting God's Children Workshop Schedule on the right side of that webpage.

Click on it and all available training dates will appear. Scroll down to the session you wish to attend and follow the directions on the screen to sign up. You can sign up for sessions at other locations if they are more convenient for your schedule. Please advise me if you do attend at a different location so we can insure you are added to our roster.

All staff and volunteers must comply with Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies. This includes completion of the following:

· Attend Protecting God's Children session (beginning in 2013 must be re-trained every 5 years)

· Complete and return application including authorization for background screening (will be re-screened every 5 years)

 

 

The next Protecting God's Children Training Session is scheduled at Saint Rose on Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30 PM in Ryan Hall.

Creating a safe environment for all of our children and vulnerable adults is an important value for our parish and the Church. The Archdiocese has created Safe Environment policies for which all staff and volunteers (18 years and older) must comply. Anyone currently or considering involvement in parish ministries and school activities where children are present must be in compliance with these policies in order to participate.

 

Safe environment policies of the Archdiocese of Newark include

Completion of the following:

 

 

Attend Protecting God's Children session

Complete and return application including authorization for background screening

Complete and return acknowledgement of Archdiocesan Policies with respect to Conduct with Minors form

Successfully complete background check.

 

All necessary forms will be distributed at the Protecting God's Children session. For those who have attended prior Protecting God's Children sessions but have not completed all of the additional requirements please contact me so I can send you the required information.

First Field Trip of the Year

 

The Pre-K students had an exciting field trip to Ort Farms last week! They got to pick apples, ride the tractor, and feed the animals, and navigate the corn maze. Everyone enjoyed the day full of Fall Fun!

Enrichment Coordinators Needed

One of the wonderful opportunities that St Rose of Lima Academy provides to the students is the after-school Enrichment Program. It allows students to join clubs and activities right after school to learn skills and have fun with friends.

 

In the past the students were able to participate in Money Management Club, Dance, Puzzle & Code Cracking Club, Songwriting, Creative Writing, Art and Soccer.

 

We want to continue this tradition, but to do so we need volunteers to assist with coordinating.

First Cross Country Meet

The Cross Country team had their first meet at the XC Assumption Invitational. The gloomy weather didn't stop them from having fun and running hard. Go Ravens!

MAP Growth Testing is Under Way

The Second through Eighth Grade students began MAP Growth testing this week. These tests help assess knowledge and growth in a variety of academic subjects for the teachers to use to understand their students and tailor the classroom experience accordingly.

Cross Country Registration

Raven Families,

Welcome back Raven Nation and a special WELCOME to our new families. We love our sports at SRLA, and it’s Cross Country season! If your child/children are interested in running with us this fall, please read this entire email as it contains a great deal of information about practices & meets.

Cross Country Team (XC)

The XC season runs from September until early November. The workouts consist of stretching, strength exercises, wind sprints, and kids running their meet distance twice to build stamina. We practice at Meisel Ave Park, Springfield, NJ

XC is open to grades K through 8.

 K, 1st and 2nd grade athletes participate in a non-competitive half-mile fun run at the beginning of each meet. 3rd grade and up participate in timed, competitive divisions as follows:

•  JV Division – 3rd and 4th grades – ¾ mile

•  JV Division – 5th and 6th grades – 1.25 miles

•  Varsity  - 7th and 8th grades – 1.8 miles

PLEASE NOTE: Parents or caregivers of children in K-2nd grade who are participating must remain at practice and keep an eye on their children at all times.

Practice Schedule:

•   Mondays: 5:45 pm to 7:00 p.m. Meisel Avenue Park, Springfield, NJ (Grades 3 to 8)

•  Thursdays: 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Meisel Avenue Park, Springfield, NJ (K-8)

The practice schedule will be loaded into TeamSnap. First practice is scheduled for Monday, September 16.

Our first meet will take place on September 28 - Assumption XC Invitational. Meets usually are in the mornings and the remainder of the schedule will be entered into Teamsnap.

Dear SRLA Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and rested. As we begin this new academic year at St. Rose of Lima Academy, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those joining our school community for the first time.

We look forward to working together to provide your child with a faith-filled education that nurtures both their academic growth and spiritual development.

At SRLA, our mission is to cultivate a strong foundation in both academics and faith, guiding our students to grow in knowledge, character, and love for God and others. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where your child can thrive in all aspects of their life.

I encourage you to become active participants in your child's education by attending school events, parent-teacher conferences, and staying engaged in their academic progress. We believe that strong collaboration between home and school is essential for your child's success.

We have several new teachers joining us at SRLA and know that you will be thrilled with each new addition. They include:

1. Virginia Arluna comes to us with many years of experience in Writing and Language Arts. She has taught at Aquinas Academy, Trinity Academy, and Cedar Grove Public Schools. A graduate of Villa Walsh, Seton Hall University for both her undergraduate degree (Education) and Masters in English and History). In addition, she holds her Supervisory Certificate in English and History from Mary Grove College. Mrs. Arluna is excited to bring strong writing skills, and a focus on student engagement, to our classrooms.

2. Allen Roberts has a deep passion for Technology. Digital Media and Communication. Mr. Roberts attended St. Rose of Lima, Seton Hall University, where her earned his first degree at the College of Education and Human Services. Mr. Roberts went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education, emphasis in Instructional Design and Technology. He brings fresh ideas and a creative spirit to our school. He is dedicated to fostering critical thinking and integrating technology into the classroom. I believe that Mr. Roberts will inspire and motivate our students to reach new heights.

3. Patricia Valladares is our newest World Language teacher. She will be responsible for Spanish instruction for our grades three through eighth. Ms. Valladares holds a BSA in Spanish from Montclair State University. Ms. Valladares has taught at St. Michael’s Elementary School and Bethlehem Academy.

These new additions, along with our returning faculty, are committed to providing your children with the best possible education and supporting their growth and development throughout the year.

We encourage you to get to know our new teachers and welcome them to our community. We are confident that they will make a positive impact on your children’s educational experience.

Girls Volleyball Program Fall 2024

The CYO currently has a Fall league for Girls in Grades 5-8.
