Dear SRLA Families,

I hope this letter finds you well rested and full of good food and great time spent with your family.

We have all seen the news reports and heard about the local schools going remote for weeks but I do not want that for SRLA. Listed below are several steps that we will put in place to keep us all safe and in-seat.

· Monday and Tuesday, January 3rd and 4th will be run on our half-day schedule. That means a 12:10 pm dismissal for our K-8th grade population and 11:25 am for our Pre-School students.

There will be no aftercare on Monday and Tuesday.

If you have ordered lunch, your orders for Monday and Tuesday will be canceled and you will be refunded.

· This schedule will reduce the time our students are exposed to each other and eliminate the lunch/recess period.

· Masks will remain on and desk barriers will remain in place.

· Only an Executive Order can change our commitment to remaining open and in-seat.

· Remember, as we have learned in the past, SRLA can pivot quickly and successfully should the need arise.

Please remember to complete your Covid questionnaire (click link here for your convenience). Also, below you will find he half-day schedules so that you may carry back to school only those books/binders you will need for each day as to lighten your backpack load on Monday.

Parents, remember that should your student not feel well, running a temperature or just tired, please keep them at home. Our wonderful teachers will make sure that they are brought up to speed upon their return to the classroom.

We are all in this together. Let’s stay healthy and if you have any doubts, get tested just to be sure.

Sincerely,

Principal Underwood

In order to continue providing the safest environment possible for our students, staff and parents, we ask that you fill out the survey below with the information about your child and yourself prior to returning to school on Monday January 3, 2022 from the Christmas Break.

Dear SRLA Families,

Your students were asked to bring home their books because of the large increase in the number of positive cases among the parents of some of our students.

Our community has been just wonderful in their handling of parental positive readings and keeping their children home. That coupled with the highest numbers ever reported in our community.

So in response, I have advised students and staff to bring home their books and anything else they would need in case they have to quarantine due to COVID.

Please know that should I be contacted by The Archdiocese of Newark or the Department of Health, I will contact everyone immediately.

Please understand that teachers, parents, staff and especially students, prefer to be in-seat but that I will always follow the guideline set before me.

But know in my heart that I will always prefer to be here, at St. Rose of Lima Academy.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

To families with children under the age but including 4 year olds.

This is not a regularly scheduled Mass.

It is for families with our youngest parishioners.

If you've got your tree up and notice something missing, we know exactly what it could be -- A beautiful St. Rose Christmas ornament. The Eighth Grade is selling festive Christmas ornaments that will look lovely on your tree or as part of your holiday decor. The ornaments are 3" hand blown glass spheres and each ornament comes in an individual box, $15. The color is clear iridescent with a beautiful painting of the school.

Please place your order via the Smart portal by Friday, 12/17. You'll also be supporting our graduating eighth graders with your purchase. Help us give them a very memorable and special final year at SRLA!

For those who have already ordered ornaments, your items will be sent home via backpacks this week. Keep an eye out!

  3. Insert the total cash in envelope (change will be sent home in same envelope)
  4. Send envelope back to school Wednesday (12/8) morning

About the Christmas Boutique:

  • Shop hours: Wednesday, December 8th, Thursday, December 9th and the morning of Friday, December 10th

THE CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE is returning to SRLA this year!

The shop will be open December 8th, 9th and 10th for students to select special gifts and trinkets to give to their loved ones this Christmas. As always we will need volunteer elves to make this event happen. From set up, to shopping and wrapping to break down, there are many volunteer slots to be filled. Please click this link to select a date and time to volunteer and share the joy of giving your time and helping our students during this holiday season.

How it works; each class will visit the shop during a pre-assigned day and time selected by their teacher. Your child’s teacher will share the date and time with their class and remind them to bring in cash for purchases.

Shop hours:

Tuesday — 8:15 am - 2:45pm

Wednesday — 8:15 am - 2:45 pm

Friday — 8:15 am - 10:00 am

Remember, all volunteers must have completed the “Protecting God’s Children” training in order to help out.

Please reach out to Jennifer Coleman (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Melita Loncar (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with any questions about the event.

Thank you for your support!
