Dear Parents,

St. Rose of Lima Academy will be proactive and take steps to minimize in-person contact at school in the coming weeks.

  • Upon return from Thanksgiving Break, all classes, school-wide, learning will be virtual for Monday, 11/30 and Tuesday, 12/1/2020. The two days will run from 8:10-12:10 each day and a special schedule will be sent out next week. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 12/2, 12/3, and 12/4, will be in-seat and full days.
  • In addition, upon return from Christmas break, the week of 1/4-1/8/2021 will be on-line as well.  Again, the week will run from 8:10-12:10 each day and a second special schedule will be sent out closer to the break.
  • Finally, aftercare will not run after 11/20/2020 until we return in-seat on 1/11/2021. So our last day of aftercare for this year will be Friday, November 20, 2020.

I urge every member of the SRLA community to do everything possible to help stop the spread of this virus by continuing to wear a mask, practice social distancing and thorough handwashing (20 seconds, using soap and water), as well as sanitizing common-use surfaces as you plan your holiday time.

We all have a role to play in staying healthy, stopping the spread of COVID-19 and getting this pandemic under control. Please remain vigilant and do all that you can do to protect yourself and those around you during this critical time. I send my best wishes to you and your family for a happy and restful Thanksgiving break.

Sincerely,

Principal Underwood

Dear Parents,

Thanksgiving will be here soon, and I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone in this wonderful community for being so attentive, resilient and caring during a year of unprecedented levels of stress and disruption. I could not be prouder of how resilient the SRLA community is and continues to be this year!

During the holidays, there’s nothing most of us want more than good food and the comfort of friends and family. However, I ask that you consider both your safety and that of your family and the school community as you make plans for the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. This year, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, our choices and decisions can threaten the health and well-being of our friends and family. We must plan and choose wisely.

As disappointing as it may be, if you can avoid traveling or in-person gatherings for Thanksgiving, please do so. COVID-19 cases continue to rise in New Jersey and across the nation. New Jersey’s recent test data reflects high rates of community transmission and regional hospitalizations are also increasing. This mirrors the experience of most of the nation. The virus often spreads best when people gather with others from outside their household, and the more people, the greater the risk of viral transmission.

Navigating family and social demands during the holidays is stressful at the best of times, and even more so when contending with the threat of a deadly pandemic, isolation, and potential differences with loved ones regarding COVID-19 safety.

Thank you again for all you are doing to protect one another.

Remember:

  • Avoid travel and in-person gatherings this Thanksgiving if possible.
  • If you must attend an in-person gathering:
  • Physically distance, wear a mask, and take all possible safety precautions for both travel and the event itself.
  • Isolate before you go, and upon your return.
  • Consider COVID-19 testing before you go.
  • Prepare to quarantine and consider another COVID-19 test after your return home.
  • Complete the following COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire and return by 11/30/2020 either electronically or by hand upon your return to school.

Please see the attached file for the Covid-19 Screening Questionnaire.

Sincerely,
Principal Underwood

Dear Parents,

I hope this note finds you in good health and spirits. My prayers are for everyone to continue to stay well and exercise care in our daily lives. I am so grateful to everyone for checking in on our fellow families as that is what we are all about at SRLA.

After careful and thoughtful consideration, we will not hold our annual Christmas Concert in December but will instead hold a concert later in the school year.

Hopefully we will see the situation improve in the near future and our concert will be a true celebration of spirit!!!

May God Bless you and keep you safe.

With warm regards,

Principal Underwood
