Catholic Schools Week

Book Fair

St. Rose of Lima Academy

2023 BOOK FAIR

The 2023 Book Fair at St. Rose of Lima Academy is in less than two weeks. The Book Fair keeps our children reading and raises funds for our school. We’re very excited to be able to host this event again this year! To make our book fair a huge success, we need the help of all of our parents AND all of our children.

This year the book fair will be held in the GYM during Catholic Schools Week! The gym offers lots of great browsing for all age groups. The children will visit the book fair early in the week with their classes, accompanied by their teacher, to prepare their WISH LISTS. Wish Lists will then be sent home in your child's folder. Check off the books you'd like them to purchase from their wish list and send back to school with a check (made payable to St. Rose’s HSA), cash or ewallet funds. (see below for more info on ewallet and setting up your child's account.)

Contactless Checkout: Scholastic’s eWALLET. With eWallet, a convenient digital payment account, your child can shop the fair cash-free. And now family, friends, and others can contribute to the eWallet! Set up your account today, so your children are ready! We’d love to encourage you to use this feature, but the Book Fair will of course also be accepting cash/checks made out to St Rose’s HSA/credit card payment. Book Fair volunteers will fulfill these orders and books will be sent to your child’s classroom.

This year the teachers will also have an opportunity to create eWallets. With eWallet you can designate a dollar amount for your child’s classroom and the teachers will be able to pick out books for the classroom, completely tax free.

eWALLET Set Up:

https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/stroseoflimaschool9

Book Fair Hours: The Book Fair will be open on Sunday for parents who would like to shop with their children on Sunday January 29, 2022 from 12:30 - 1:30. The children will shop with their classes from January 30 - February 1.

VOLUNTEER: A Sign-up Genius will go out tomorrow for volunteering slots. Please sign up to help. Please take note of the time slots your child’s class will be visiting the book fair if you’d like to specifically help with their class. There are also setup and cleanup hours available.

Please remember: All volunteers must have an active certification from the "Protecting God's Children" course.

THANK YOU for your support.

St. Rose Winter Volleyballl Clinic

Greetings,

We are pleased to announce that St. Rose will be hosting a Spring Volleyball Clinic for students in Grades 5-8 starting on Tuesday, January 16, 2023. I am proud to announce that our clinics will be led by Ms Sarah Speckhart who will be leading our Ravens Volleyball Program moving forward ( Boys & Girls Volleyball Grades 5-8)

We will be offering 2-4 week sessions that will be led by Ms Speckhart who will be leading our Ravens Volleyball Program moving forward. This clinic will provide athletes with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, improve their skills and learn game techniques and strategies as we prepare and develop our Ravens Volleyball Program in this our 1st year.

Ms. Speckhart started playing volleyball when she was in 5th grade at St. James School in Springfield, NJ. Since she loved the sport so much, she continued to play throughout high school at Millburn and did club for a couple of years in college. When she heard that a volleyball program was coming to SRLA, she was so excited to get involved in any way possible. Ms. Speckhart has 6 years of coaching experience between swimming and volleyball. She is looking forward to getting back on the court and can't wait to see your athletes grow in their volleyball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship!

Please be sure to welcome her to the Ravens Sports Family when you see her.

Merry Christmas!

Dear SRLA Families,

Last night was the perfect ending for 2022. We have traveled so far in just a few months but look how far we’re come! We stumbled just in bit in a few areas, growing along the way and just as I tell our eighth graders, everything and everyone will land just where they belong. Trust in God and those we love.

September brought us back to open classrooms, masks optional. Classroom restrictions lifted and Back-To-School Night in person!

October brought us the Communion Breakfast, visits from the Firefighters, Fall Food Truck Festival, the Pumpkin Patch and Petting Zoo, the Walk-a-thon, and of course, Trunk-or-Treat D.J. and all.

November brought HSPT testing for the eighth graders (results on 1/10/23), Middle School Assembly and Pie Sale, Thanksgiving Prayer Service, Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament, Mr. Federico and Mrs. Muller!!!

December, the incredible production of Elf, Jr. was one for the books. It is so good to be on our way back! Wow last night just filled my heart with love. We were treated to a beautifully performed Stations of the Nativity and Christmas Concert! You could just feel the connections and family love. We also celebrated St. Nicholas Day, the Pre-school Christmas Concert and HSA Luncheon for our teachers. I cannot thank each and every one of our families for their support and generosity when it comes to our staff at SRLA. THANK YOU.

Did I mention that Mrs. Donna Perkins will remain as our first grade teacher!

Looking forward to the new year and every hope and dream it brings to our community and wishing all a very Merry Christmas!

May the celebrations of Christmas infuse your home and heart with timeless smiles and joys.

God bless,

Principal Underwood
