Half-days for the Entire Week

Dear SRLA Families,

This is an update to our current schedule for this week.

The steps sent out earlier have not changed but we are extending the half-day schedule for the entire week.

That means a 12:10 pm dismissal for our K-8th grade population and 11:25 am for our Pre-School students.

We have all seen the news reports and heard about the local schools going remote for weeks but I do not want that for SRLA. Listed below are several steps that we will put in place to keep us all safe and in-seat.

There will be no aftercare all week.

No lunch service all week as well.

If you have ordered lunch, your orders will be canceled and you will be refunded.

· This schedule will reduce the time our students are exposed to each other and eliminate the lunch/recess period.

· Masks will remain on and desk barriers will remain in place.

· Only an Executive Order can change our commitment to remaining open and in-seat.

· Remember, as we have learned in the past, SRLA can pivot quickly and successfully should the need arise.

Please remember to complete your Covid questionnaire (click link here for your convenience).

Parents, remember that should your student not feel well, running a temperature or just tired, please keep them at home. Our wonderful teachers will make sure that they are brought up to speed upon their return to the classroom.

We are all in this together. Let’s stay healthy and if you have any doubts, get tested just to be sure.

Sincerely,

Principal Underwood

Return to School on January 3, 2022

· Monday and Tuesday, January 3rd and 4th will be run on our half-day schedule. That means a 12:10 pm dismissal for our K-8th grade population and 11:25 am for our Pre-School students.

There will be no aftercare on Monday and Tuesday.

If you have ordered lunch, your orders for Monday and Tuesday will be canceled and you will be refunded.

· This schedule will reduce the time our students are exposed to each other and eliminate the lunch/recess period.

Parents, remember that should your student not feel well, running a temperature or just tired, please keep them at home. Our wonderful teachers will make sure that they are brought up to speed upon their return to the classroom.

We are all in this together. Let’s stay healthy and if you have any doubts, get tested just to be sure.

Students Asked to Bring Home Books

Dear SRLA Families,

Your students were asked to bring home their books because of the large increase in the number of positive cases among the parents of some of our students.

Our community has been just wonderful in their handling of parental positive readings and keeping their children home. That coupled with the highest numbers ever reported in our community.

So in response, I have advised students and staff to bring home their books and anything else they would need in case they have to quarantine due to COVID.

Please know that should I be contacted by The Archdiocese of Newark or the Department of Health, I will contact everyone immediately.

Please understand that teachers, parents, staff and especially students, prefer to be in-seat but that I will always follow the guideline set before me.

But know in my heart that I will always prefer to be here, at St. Rose of Lima Academy.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
