Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Today, SRLA turned green as we celebrated St. Patrick's Day! St. Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. He lived during the fifth century and was born in Roman Britain. After being kidnapped and brought to Ireland, he escaped but returned to bring Christianity to its people. St. Patrick explained Christianity and the Holy Trinity through the three leaves of a shamrock, which ultimately represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. St. Patrick is honored around the world on the date of his death, March 17, in the year 461 through parades, masses, and productions. Happy St. Patrick's Day !
The winners of the Student Council drawing contest are Ethan Caudill (Kindergarten), Londyn Grosso (3rd grade) and Evangelina Rodriguez (7th grade)!

Winners receive lucky Leprechaun gold and a dress-down day for their class! Thank you so much for EVERYONE'S enthusiasm and participation.

Living History in the 4th Grade
On Tuesday, March 14, Mr. Bob Gula came to visit the 4th Graders at SRLA to talk about the American Revolutionary War. Mr. Gula's family possesses an ancestry line that includes family members who participated in this very war back on April 19, 1775! On his own time and dedication, Mr. Gula travels to schools throughout the state of New Jersey to discuss facts, geographical aspects about where the war took place, and famous people like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. As the 4th grade is currently learning about the state of New Jersey and the Revolutionary War, this presentation really enhanced and brought to life our class lessons.

Thank you Mr. Gula! We truly enjoyed having you come to our class.

Fun Beyond the Bell

Beyond the Bell after-school enrichment is back! Kids had a blast at their first Start to Art class, taught by SRLA's very own Mary Uzzolino.

Middle School Health & Wellness

As we all know, middle school can be a challenging and exciting time for children. In order to support the wellbeing of our SRLA students, we have invited school psychologist Lauren Rosen of Childhood Connected to join us on Tuesday, March 21.

Lauren will meet with Grades 5 and 6 together and with Grades 7 and 8 together, to facilitate a casual conversation about facing challenges and supporting each other both in and outside of school.

There will be a follow-up meeting for parents to meet Lauren and learn more about the topics she covers with students. Stay tuned for details!

Coffee & Conversation
Please join us Friday, March 31 in the media center after drop-off for coffee and conversation! This is a perfect opportunity to ask Mrs. Underwood questions, or discuss any SRLA-related topics in an informal and casual setting. All parents and guardians are invited!

Easter Recess Calendar Update
bunny_with_basket.jpg
Since SRLA has not used snow days this winter, we'll have an extra day of Easter recess! School will be closed on Holy Thursday, April 6.

Students will return to school on Monday, April 17, in summer uniforms!

Save the Date for WISH!

Meeting for 7th Grade Families
Dear 7th Grade Families,

Please join us on Tuesday, May 9 at 7pm in the media center for an informative meeting on what to expect in 8th grade. Mrs. Underwood and a few 8th grade parents who have gone through this process will be there to help answer your questions and share their experiences. We know we have some 7th grade parents that just went through the 8th grade process last year and may not need this information again, but we would love to have you come to help answer any questions that come up! Save the date!!

Thank you!
