As many questions have been sent my way, I would like to pass along the latest information sent to me from the Archdiocese.
CDC Guidelines for Abbreviated Isolation and Quarantine Do Not Apply at This Time to Schools: On 12/27/2021, the CDC announced a Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period for General Population that shortened the recommended time for isolation and quarantine. https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html It is important to note that this guidance does NOT currently apply to school settings. The CDC is updating guidance for schools and other specific settings to consider how updated isolation and quarantine timeframes should be applied in these locations. Once the CDC guidance for schools is released, the NJ Department of Health will review and/or update NJ guidance for schools.
For the NJDOH update of 12/30/2021 explaining this important distinction and links to the NJDOH 12/15/2021 guidance, which is still in effect, please see:

Recommendations for Very High COVID-19 Activity Levels (Red): All four counties of the Archdiocese currently are classified as RED, meaning that they have very high Covid-19 Activity Levels. Please review your current mitigation strategies, and revise as needed to ensure sufficient distancing, limiting of student and staff interaction, and effective cohorts. NJDOH recommends that in addition to following current NJDOH guidance, K-12 schools located in regions with very high COVID-19 CALI activity levels (bolded recommendations are new) should:
· Continue to adhere to mask mandates as outlined in EO 251.
· Continue to promote layered prevention strategies such as physical
distancing, screening testing, handwashing, cleaning, improved ventilation, staying home when sick, etc.
Testing of Students: Testing cannot be required as a general condition of school attendance in RCAN schools, other than after a COVID-19 exposure or positive result.
Monitoring of Local Conditions: Please continue to closely monitor conditions in your school and general community, maintaining communication with your local public school district and health department. Deciding whether to close or move to a half-day situation should only be made for a week at a time.
Again, thank you parents, teachers and staff for your continued perseverance in the face of these rapidly changing metrics in our area. Your focus on the safety and continuity of learning for your students is appreciated.
Please remember, If you traveled outside of NY, NJ, CT, DE or PA, you must return a Covid Questionnaire upon your return. (click link here for your convenience).

Your child will be sent home if it is brought to our attention that you have traveled and forgot to tell us.
Stay well,
